Information for the bereaved

Dear bereaved,

Please accept our sincere condolences on the death of your loved one. We would like to give you some important information on how to navigate this difficult time.

Information about the death
A close person or another person listed in the deceased's medical records is always informed of the patient's death. The attending physician of the department where the death occurred provides the necessary information regarding the death of the patient, the selection of the funeral service and any autopsy

Personal belongings of the patient

According to the applicable legal regulations, clothing, shoes, hygiene items, books, magazines, food, compensatory aids (glasses, hearing aids, crutches, cane, dentures, etc.)

This estate will be handed over to relatives in the direct line, i.e. ancestors and descendants, to other persons in a family or similar relationship (siblings, spouse and registered partner) or to people who consider themselves close to each other, if the harm suffered by one of them , the latter reasonably considered to be their own harm.

The bereaved confirms the receipt of the items with their signature, and while handing over, they will state the identity card number, phone number and link to the deceased.

Valuables

Valuables, checkbooks, important documents, bank cards, documents, watches, jewelry, precious metals, mobile phone, personal computer, television, radio, cash over CZK 1,000, pension (if it is deposited in a hospital deposit box), keys, according to the law, they are not issued, because they become the subject of inheritance proceedings and are deposited in the deposit box of the Mariánské Lázně Hospital.

They can be issued only on the basis of a court decision with a legal authority clause, or on the basis of a request from a notary active in the proceedings for the inheritance of the deceased.

The estate is reported by the hospital to the district court (according to the permanent residence of the patient) and deposited until a final decision is issued. Inheritance proceedings begin when the competent court is informed of the death. The court will appoint a notary public to deal with the inheritance. The notary then invites the survivors in writing.

If one of the participants in the inheritance proceedings (it can also be the employer) needs to hand over an item that belongs to the inheritance, such as keys to an apartment or a car (e.g. to provide clothes for the deceased, to provide for an animal, to remove an accident or a work laptop), he can do so on the basis of an emergency measure issued by the court. Without this measure, the item cannot be issued.

Death certificate

The employees of the central register of the Mariánské Lázně Hospital hand over the identity card of the deceased to the registry office of the City of Marianske Lazne, which will issue a death certificate within 14 days at the latest (or as agreed). The registry office employee will send the death certificate to the residence of the survivors and the Czech Social Security Administration, which will stop the payment of the pension. At the same time, the registry office informs the relevant court (according to the permanent residence of the deceased) about the death. The court appoints a notary who handles the inheritance and contacts the survivors himself.

The health insurance card is sent by our hospital to the relevant health insurance company that issued it.

Issue of estate

As already mentioned above, the estate is issued on the basis of a court decision with a legal authority clause, or on the basis of a request from a notary active in the proceedings for the inheritance of the deceased.

In order to issue the estate, you need to have the original of the final decision with you, especially the identity card of the deceased person (heir). Without a court decision and without an identity card, the estate cannot be issued.

Please arrange a date and time in advance for the release of the estate, on the phone number of the social worker: 778 417 647 or 354 474 217.
